Frankie and I have been working on the new frame housing for the underwater scanner.
We started off by modeling the original scanner to give us our correct spacing we need for the scanner.
I took Frankie's model and created new stand offs for all the parts. Including to rail system the scanner rides along.
Our next step was to come up with the concept for what the housing would look like.
The image below is the first mock up of a design. It is an aluminum frame that has the cavities, where the electronics will sit, then two sheets of Lexan to sandwich it together.
This will allow the person scanning to be able to see through it and see what they are scanning.
The first measurements of what we had for spacing. It wasn't quite correct, you can see how the rail system goes right through a wall.
but with a few rotations and some modification of the case we were able to fit it all into a constrained area. This will it will be as compact and portable as possible.
I also modeled out the standoffs and brackets for the electronics.
Electronic mounts.
Rail and motor mounts.
Rail and pulley mount.
